Video Productions 2011-2012

Video Productions at Port Townsend High School is a yearlong course designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of video and film production. The course is project oriented and emphasizes hands on approach to learning the basics of production technique including: script writing, pre-production planning, lighting, camera operation, editing, & audio for video. Students will produce a daily news program for the High School, as well as broadcast school & community events and programming through PTTV facilities. Students are required to participate in several after school broadcasts each semester. 

 

Schedule & Assignments

Week #1 No Block Periods

Monday: No School, Labor Day
Tuesday: Course introduction; Curriculum description and expectations, Class rules, Responsibility Forms & Off Campus Contracts distributed. Complete Video self-inventory.
Wednesday: Computer protocols, PTTV studio tour. Intro to www.cybercollege.com video modules. Set up network accounts, Explore iMovie, Celtx (script writing software) and Garage Band.
Thursday: Script short Newscast using Celtx, Group studio rehearsals, Read video module 1 parts I & II at www.cybercollege.com.
Friday: Studio work. Group short newscasts rehearsals and taping. Module 1 Quiz,


Week #2 Read Modules 2 & 3


Monday: Continue taping short newscasts. Video camera and support system basics
Tuesday: Continue taping short newscasts. Discussion; Visual Storytelling, Assignment: The 10 Shot Film, group brainstorming
Wednesday Early Release: 10 Shot Scripting
Thursday Blocks: 10 Shot Scripting, Begin Shooting 10 Shot videos
Friday No video classes, Module 2&3 Quiz Wed 9/14
